Fashion Customising

As part of my course at the London College of Style I have just completed the task of clothing customisation as part of my assignment. I had to select two items of clothing to customise in any way I chose, I opted for a plain tank and a pair of shoes (both so ugly I would never photograph them for my blog). My inspiration was Paco Rabanne, Marni, Prada (for their over sized jewels, sequins and details) and Louis Vuitton for it's use of feathers in the Spring Summer 2012 collection. I set about the painstaking task (I must have been crazy) of cutting out four hundred 6cm diameter leather discs to sew onto the top, I then finished this off with a ostrich feather trim on the neckline.

The shoes were trimmed with self adhesive crystals on the cross bar and the underside of the sole to give a flash of sparkle, I then trimmed the ankle cuff with black ostrich feathers....overall I think it was pretty successful...oh, and I got an A grade so I was pretty happy that the hard work paid off.

Covered: Victoria Beckham Harpers Bazaar China May 2012

Victoria Beckham is seen here looking fierce on the May 2012 cover of Harper's Bazaar China. Three covers were published showing Victoria with cherry coloured hair which is a major departure from her usual style.......what do you think? Personally, I think she looks great.

Lust Have: Repossi Ear Cuffs

Gaia Repossi creative Director of Parisian jewelry brand Repossi is one of my favourite jewelry designers, she creates beautiful, sculptural pieces that will never date. My favourite piece at the moment are her ear cuffs which give an edgy elegance to any outfit as seen here on the fabulous Daphne Groeneveld on the cover of Self Service magazine. Available from Colette, Paris.

Catwalk to Closet | Peplums

Spring fashion is focused on the waist and this Season there is no better way to update your look than with a Peplum as seen on the runways of Celine, Dior & Armani. I have embraced this trend with the recent purchase of one of Celine's stunning elbow length sleeve tops as seen in picture 7 which I can see quickly becoming a staple in my closet. If a peplum is something you would love to try but don't feel brave enough to pay Celine or designer prices then the perfect alternative is British brand, Nauticoco. Nauticoco has designed a clever range of detachable and reversible peplums that are the perfect addition to your closet. Just tie one round your waist and you are ready to go, this way you can experiment by teaming with your existing wardrobe and with them being reversible you get two looks for the price of one.

Nauticoco's peplum's are available in cotton or silk and priced from £49.00. There are a variety of wearable colourways including black, white, forest green, burnt orange, silver, taupe & burgundy available at www.nauticoco.com, and until 30th April 2012 you can receive a 20% discount by using the exclusive code: LOVESTYLEESA at checkout.
