I have developed a bit of an obsession recently with beautiful, intricate Gagaesque lace masks and this one by Carine Gilson exclusive to Net a Porter ticks all the boxes for me. I could quite happily wear this to a party this holiday season even if it is not a technically what you would call a masquerade ball.

Blue Hues
I am loving all the shades of blue we are seeing on the streets at the moment, every shade from royal to navy, turquoise to Sapphire, denim to indigo have been seen on bags, shoes, jackets and nails. My favourite way to wear is with a pop of this fabulous hue on a simple clutch bag a la Celine.

Style Crush: Elin Kling
My Style Crush this month is the very stylish Swedish blogger Elin Kling. I have to admit I have only just discovered what her name is, so, this is why I have now decided to dedicate a post to her flawless style. This is one lady who can make the most basic of pieces look uber sophisticated and modern. I am loving the way she teams a pair of straight legged tailored pants with an oversized men's sweater and still manages to look feminine. This is one fashionista I will be watching in the future as I am sure we are going to be seeing a lot more of her.

Wearable Art | Mia Jafari Dresses
Spring/Summer 2012 sees Central Saint Martins and Goldsmiths graduate Mia Jafari mark her Ready-to-Wear design debut with 'Waterlilies', a collection of seductively playful silk dresses encapsulating the spirit of romance. The collection of abstractly painted and digital rendered blouses, skirts and dresses utilize Jafari’s training in both design and art. Combining actual paint and embroidery with digital manipulation on ballooned silk georgette blouses, micro mini ruffled dresses and draped vintage inspired silk dresses, ‘Waterlilies’ oozes Jafari's playful aesthetic whilst evoking a more mature and sophisticated elegance.
The silhouette is deceptively simple, ballooned, pleated blouses worn under highwaisted skirts, with pockets and draping, adding a new dimension to the silhouette. 1950’s vintage cuts are given a twist with knots, folds and drapes.
In Jafari's collection shading is essential to the colour palette, turquoise turns to bright green to dark green as they progress across the silhouette. Flashes of bright turquoise and intense yellow contrast against a soft evaporating background. Play is ever present in this collection; an embroidered Christian Louboutin dangles from a branch on the neckline of a 1950's dress and embroidered ladybirds form the hemline of another. The unexpected suddenly becomes the norm to form one meditative state of beauty.
